Your route will follow the scenic coastal road from Athens, passing the beautiful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, and Varkisa, the city's residential areas, all the way to the southern tip of Attica: Cape Sounion.
This promontory boasts one of the most spectacular views of the Aegean Sea and sits in a picturesque position overlooking the sea, home to the remains of a Greek temple dedicated to Poseidon.
Do you know the myth? Cape Sounion is said to be the place from which Aegeus, king of Athens, threw himself into the sea when he saw his son Theseus' ship with black sails, believing him to be dead after returning from his mission in the Minotaur's labyrinth. In reality, Theseus had simply forgotten to hoist the white sails, which would have symbolized the success of his mission. The Aegean Sea takes its name from this mythological episode!
After your guided tour of the Temple, you can stroll freely on the rocky promontory of Cape Sounion and enjoy the fantastic sunset.
