Common description
Folegandros is a picturesque island of the Cyclades, it extends over approximately 32 square kilometers, surrounded by high cliffs and has a coastal perimeter of 40 kilometers. Many of its beaches are accessible only on foot, making the island a paradise for lovers of hiking, nature and pristine beaches. This enchanting place offers an authentic Mediterranean experience, steeped in its rural history and wind-shaped landscapes. Folegandros has developed a tourism that respects the rhythms of the island, away from the discos and shops, where guests can appreciate all the surrounding landscape. The island has maintained its authenticity, with a population still linked to rural life and agriculture. The landscape varies from rocky and rugged in the north, to flatter areas in the south. Its three main villages include the port of Karavostasi, Chora and the village of Ano Meria. Chora is a jewel of the Cyclades, with narrow paved streets, white houses and welcoming little squares in the shade of the trees. The city is dominated by the Kastro, a 13th-century Venetian fortress that offers breathtaking views of the island and the surrounding sea. Despite the tranquility of the island, there are small venues where guests can enjoy good music and have fun. An unmissable stop in Chora is a visit to the Panagia church, located on a hill above the city. The short climb offers spectacular views, making sunset an unforgettable experience.
