Common description
Igoumenitsa is a coastal city located in the north-west of Greece, in the Epirus region. It is an important gateway to mainland Greece for ferries connecting Italy from the ports of Ancona, Bari and Brindisi with Greece. The town itself is characterized by a lively marina, where cafés, restaurants and shops are located. The surrounding area offers breathtaking landscapes, with mountains overlooking the Ionian Sea and small traditional villages scattered across the surrounding countryside. Igoumenitsa is also an ideal starting point for exploring other destinations in the Epirus region, such as the Vikos Gorges and the historic cities of Ioannina and Preveza.
