Karpathos - an island in the Aegean Sea, belongs to Greece. It is part of the Dodecanese Islands (Southern Sporades).
Karpathos is connected to the neighboring islands and the mainland by ferry services and airlines. The ferry goes to Piraeus (via Crete and Rhodes). Regular daily domestic flights connect the island with Rhodes, Casos, Crete and Athens.
In summer, small private boats run daily between Pigadia and other settlements. There are city buses and a local taxi (agoraia) with solid rates.
