Galaxidi, a small and charming seaside town of 1,700 inhabitants with a long tradition of shipbuilders which then declined when motor steamers entered service.
It remains a picturesque town, with panoramic alleys and characteristic captains' houses.
In Galaxidi it is worth visiting the Naval Museum, the oldest Naval Museum in Greece, which has a large collection of sailing paintings, nautical instruments, ship registers and other interesting exhibits. You can also visit the Archaeological Museum of Galaxidi, which displays more than 300 archaeological finds, the Folklore Museum, which is housed in an ancient mansion and features finds, such as traditional costumes, embroidery etc.
Don't miss the church of the patron Saint Nikola, the church of Saint Paraskevi with a curious solar calendar on the floor and the Monastery of the Transfiguration dating back to 1250 AD.
